The knowledge that AG Holder smugly conceals is that the rule of law under his administration  can be just as arbitrary as law in the hands of an African chief.  In fact American law is in the hands of an African chief.

Charlie Savage in the above linked NYTimes piece quotes A.G. Holder thusly:

Of course there are going to be critics, but “any objective observer” would see the recent approach as consistent with the historical mission of the division- not straying into some kind of liberal orthodoxy.  It’s really just a function of enforcing statutes.

Yes.  That’s what Hitler said as he marched the Jews into Auschwitz.  All six million of  ’em.

A.G. Holder is talking about changes to the Civil Rights Division.  Forty years of existence is hardly long enough to talk about a historical mission.  The word mission itself is suspect.   That also raises the question of whether an objective observer could give his whole hearted consent to the original mission or even whether the stated original mission is the same as what the division now proclaims.  Don’t you look into it too closely though, you Domestic Terrorist you.

A.G. Holder says there is no move to the left and yet the changes he’s making in hiring practices, traditional since 2001, ensures that only Reds will be given employment.  No dissenters need apply.

The division is getting back to doing what it has traditionally done, but it’s really only a start.

That’s scary in any language.  I’m not so sure A.G. Holder’s conception of what it has traditionally done is the same as mine.  But as I have objected to the administration’s policies A.G. Holder has already put me down as a Domestic Terrorist.  I’m scaring the shit out of him anyhow I guess.  By definition I can’t be ‘an objective observer’; only Leftists can be that.

For instance Bush appointees to the Civil Rights Division ‘were graduates of lower ranked law schools.’  A.G. Holder doesn’t list these lower ranked law schools capable of turning out only incompetent lawyers but I’m sure the various Law School heads would like to  know who A.G. Holder considers incompetent fools.

Under Bush these lawyers were considered political appointees unlike those of A.G. Holder.   Some performed competently but ‘the net effect…of the brain drain is an attorney work force ill-equipped.’  There you have it straight from the horse’s mouth, the government is ill equipped to deal with problems.

A.G. Holder’s underling Mark Koppelhof says of the new left hirings: ‘We wanted a very transparent policy that will stand the test of time and ensure we hire the best and brightest.

Only hiring Leftists is certainly transparent.  Says ‘an objective observer’ from a second rate law school:

Robert Driscoll, a division ‘political appointee’ from 2001 to 2003, said career civil rights lawyers are ‘overwhelmingly left-leaning’ and will favor liberals.’

News to A.G. Holder apparently.  No ‘objective observer’ has to be told that.  I think the net effect of the divisions reorganization will be a crackdown on too objective an observer which you can read as Domestic Terrorist.
