And The Plot Against America

     One of the more influential propagandists of the twentieth century and one who was essential in creating the notion of a Nationalist plot against America was Edward L. Bernays.  His ideas found a summation in the two books of 1943 and 1946 issued by the American Jewish Committee under the name of John Roy Carlson. 

     Bernays began as a ballyhoo promotion man  in the period before the Great War.  Then when the US declared war on Germany in 1917 he joined the Wilson administration going to the WIB where he served on the Creel Committee.  The Creel Committee was the advertising group that  ’sold’ the War to the American people.  The Creel Committee was perhaps a turning point in American history.  George Creel’s salesmen backed by the money of the government spared no expence in devising means to coerce the American public to follow the administration’s direction.

     After the War Creel members were prepared to develop the nascent business community of the twenties.  The Big Change.  Flappers smoking cigarettes, bobbed hair and all that jazz.  As it was Edward Bernays was Sigmund Freud’s, that Freud, nephew.  He was in frequent contact with his uncle, while being responsible for having his uncle’s literary corpus translated and published in the US.  He was to incorporate some of the mind control  elements  of Freud’s doctrine into shaping the mind and opinions of Americans.

     Bernays gained his reputation and made big money by applying Freud’s techniques to advertising American products.  He popularized the term  Public Relations rather than Hucksters.

     As a Jew he was especially concerned wih advancing the Jewish agenda.  In a way his efforts might be called The Protocols Of Zion adapted to modern American conditions- movies, radio and then TV.

     I hardly think he invented the aphorism but his is the first use of it I’ve come across:  Nothing is good or bad but thnking makes it so.   I’m not going into the implications of this amoral aphorism here but Bernays who was in an unparalleled position to influence the entire nation’s opinions realized that he was in the position to propagandize Judaism as no one had been before.  The key element to his success, the concept of anti-Semitism, had been established by the AJC and the Anti-Defamation League Of B’nai B’rith in the ‘teens of the twentieth century.  Bernay’s program wouldn’t have worked, or as well, if he hadn’t been in a position to discredit his critics by denouncing them as anti-Semites.  Without anti-Semitism it would have been a tough up hill battle.

     The immense immigration of the preceding era had in effect created two Americas: one of immigrant resentment and one of Native superiority so Bernay’s was plowing a fertile field.  The natural immigrant and Jewish antagonist was the Native element.  Applying the principle that nothing is good or bad but thinking makes it so Bernay’s set out to make Nationalism and Nativism bad.   Grouping the immigrants and Jews under the rubric Democracy he opposed  the Nationalists who were demonized as Fascists, Nazis and authoritarians.  Hence this was the main theme of the John Roy Carlson books and fifty years later the theme of the Jewish writer Philip Roth’s novel: The Plot Against America.

     In Roth’s work he improbably has Charles Lindbergh elected President and then become a satrap of Wolf Hitler.  Thus making a novel of the Carlson books he makes the Jews the true founders and defenders of American democracy while the Nativists are Nazis out to destroy the great country the Jews had created.

     Now, nothing is good or bad, true or false, but thinking makes it so.  If you can persuade people to think that black is white and act on it then you will have a situation where one is looking at a black object while people are describing it as white.  The evidence of their senses will be entirely perverted.  A situation that exists today.

     Bernays and his epigone were able in the years following WWII to convince Americans that America was Fascist, a collection of little Hitlers and that they had to be destroyed.  Whiteness had to be eliminated from the Earth.  Hence very recently the French President, Nick Sarkozy, was promoting a law requiring White women to associate only with Black men.

     Nothing is good or bad but thinking makes it so.  The aphorism makes each individual the arbiter of good and bad, right and wrong.  That’s a program for anarchy, and one that Jews don’t follow themselves.   That’s a program for anarchy and that’s what we’re getting.  In the meantime as I am the arbiter of good and right I reject the Jewish program as bad an wrong which as I know I’ve already proven myself to be right because I think it, I am correct.  I refuse to accept wrong when I am positive I am right.

     Understanding, well, that’s another story….  Tell all these crumbs to just go and shove it.
