The New Liberal Dilemma
by

The Left has adopted such an inane characteristic way of looking at events that they begin to babble and rebabble. Our daily paper for 5/23/08 published a story that a local reporter apparently cobbled together from various wire services. The headline was: Mobs of South Africa’s poor drive out immigrant workers. Read that two or three times. After describing South Africa’s vibrant economy to which millions of other African Blacks have migrated to ‘try to better their lives’ the reporter says that the thousands of desperate poor unemployed South African Blacks in a fit of ‘xenophobia’ attacked these employed immigrant Blacks killing dozens, beating hundreds more while prventing them from continuing in gainful employ.
The reaction of the Black police in restoring order we are told was reminiscent of the old days of White imposed apartheid. So even though SA is a Black controlled country Whites were somehow still responsible for the ‘xenophobic’ actions of the tens of thousands of S. African Blacks. Xenophobia and apartheid don’t seem to be related but nevermind.
The SA Blacks had no responsibility for their actions as they were still ‘victims’ of something…what?…we don’t really know because the Liberal reporter appears to be at a loss as to who other than the Blacks themselves is responsible. Perhaps God? Maybe, Fate? At any rate South Africas ‘poor’ drove out ‘workers.’ That’s a fact.
The article closes with this remarkable paragraph:
While South Africa is doing better than its neighbors, many link the violence against foreigners to impatience among the ‘poorest of the poor’, who have feel (sic) left behind as a ‘minority’ of blacks take ‘advantage’ of opportunities ‘created’ since the end of apartheid.
The ‘poorest of the poor’ felt left behind. There’s a class of victims. And beneath them are the very poorest of the poor who feel left behind by the ‘poorest of the poor’ and victims beneath them must be the veriest wretches of the earth. I can go further in my desperate search for even more desperate wretches. I’m not a Liberal.
Now, the ‘poorest of the poor’ means there must be the merely poor while there must be another class who perhaps ‘have had a taste of well being’ and those who actually have jobs and work. In their mad envy of a ‘minority’ of South African blacks who have insidiously taken advantage of opportunities ‘created’ by the demise of apartheid the poorest of the poor vented their frustration on those who have jobs and are actually willing to work, destroying their livelihoods without offering their services themselves. These poor schlubs of ‘foreigners’ were actually ‘creating’ their own opportunities only to be murdered for the attempt.
The Liberals reporting this situation of victims killing the able and feeling sorry for the murderous ‘victims’ are truly intellectually and ideologically bankrupt. They are quite mad. And yet they write the news, and yet they control the media, and yet they control the politics of ourselves.
What is wrong with this picture and why are we tolerating it? What are we going to do about it other than complain? I’m looking for a show of hands.
